“ This is great for a quick bite, especially if you have limited time. It is cafeteria style, but everything is made to order. The udon is made fresh on site. Various types of soups and toppings. They also offer self-serve sides, which are continuously made fresh. The place is extremely clean with an open kitchen concept. All the staff were really helpful and friendly. Prices are competitive, especially for Vancouver. Great place. Definitely a must try. ”
“ Cozy night in Vancouver with a bowl of steaming hot udon from Marugame. A taste from Honolulu Marugame right here in this city! We usually eat here before heading to Vancouver Canucks game. The lines now better a bit now which is great! The service is quick! Once you get to the front line and order for udon, pick up a tray and tell the staff your order. Before paying, you will see more snacks eg. tempura shrimp, tempura zucchini, gyoza etc... before paying your order. The hard part, trying not to spill the udon soup while finding a table. :) The restaurant is very spacious, clean and bright. There is station where you can get water, utensils etc... Heading back to Hawaii next month and will be back to Marugame Udon! Never disappoints! 5 stars. ”
“ Went here on a rainy Sunday for lunch. It was exactly what we needed to warm us up. The service was awesome. I love that when you walk in, just order at the front and they make your soup right there and then give it to you. Then you can add your sides or tempura yourself. Had the tantan and the beef udon. We added shrimp tempura, gyoza and zucchini tempura. I love that you can choose your tempura and the guy was frying it up fresh. The tantan was very flavorful and creamy. Noodles were chewy and delicious/perfectly cooked. Not soggy at all. Tempura was good too! We will definitely be back!! ”
“ I really enjoyed the noodles here, especially the Curry Nikutama Udon. It was awesome! I love curry sauce, and this one was rich and flavorful. It pairs perfectly with the noodles. The environment was also nice and relaxed, a great spot to chill and chat with friends while enjoying good food. ”
“ Very fast service without compromising quality of the food. I had the chicken katsu curry don. The chicken was very crisp and juicy. I especially liked the curry sauce because it was not too salty and starchy. It had a sweet and savoury taste. ”
“ Such a great place for a quick bite. We came here before seeing a show at the QE. I was surprised by the value. It’s good value even if you’re not downtown. If you see a line it’s because it’s a cafeteria style restaurant and you collect your food before you sit. Upon arrival you can see why this major chain has been so successful. Benefitting from a small menu, each staff member has a specific job In the assembly line that allows them to pump out a high volume of delicious udon soup. My udon was cooked perfectly, while the broth and beef were full of flavour. They also have an add-on area where you pick up various Katsu, tempura and gyoza. My kid said it best the next day. “You know that udon we had? It was so good!” ”
“ Marugame Udon was one of my go-to Japanese restaurants back home in the Philippines, so I was stoked when I heard that we finally have a branch here in Vancouver! The restaurant in clean and well kept. Staff were friendly and accommodating. I haven't been to Marugame Udon in Japan yet, but the taste is similar to what I'm used to in the Philippines. I guess that's a good thing then! Lol will definitely be back! ”
“ One of the best Japanese restaurant we have visited. Their menu is straightforward and everything was made fresh down to their udon noodles. You could literally see the staff make the udon noodles from where you’re ordering your food and can see how everything is being made fresh. Everything is priced reasonably and affordable. Perfect place to dine in for vancouver weather. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant itself is very clean and spacious for many customers to sit in. I definitely recommend you check this place out! ”
